At start-up the valve is open and discharges condensate; as the condensate temperature rises, the bimetallic strips bend and move the nozzle toward the closed position, and the valve reopens when the temperature drops. The trap features a built-in strainer, an integral check valve function and automatic air venting, and can be installed in any position.
