The Spirax Sarco M10P is a three-piece isolation ball valve for steam and industrial fluids. It is intended solely for pipeline shut-off and must not be used for control applications. Available in full-bore or reduced-bore configurations in sizes from 1/4" to 2", it offers a choice of carbon steel or 316L stainless steel bodies and various threaded, socket-weld, and butt-weld connections. It is suitable for isolating saturated steam at pressures up to 17.5 barg and other industrial fluids. The three-piece design allows maintenance while the valve remains installed in the pipeline.

Application scenarios

Steam Pipeline Isolation

The M10P three-piece ball valve can be used as an isolation valve in steam pipelines, providing shut-off when downstream equipment or pipeline sections are being maintained or taken out of service. The product is designed for steam service with a maximum saturated steam pressure of 17.5 barg and can be maintained without removing the valve from the pipeline.

Industrial Liquid Pipeline Isolation

The M10P can provide isolation and shut-off in industrial liquid pipelines. Its three-piece design allows maintenance while the valve remains installed in the pipeline. Actual valve selection and operating conditions must comply with the specified pressure, temperature, and material limits.

Industrial Fluid Process Pipeline Isolation

The M10P is designed for steam and other industrial fluids and must only be used as an isolation valve. The M10P3 model has a stainless steel body and may be used to isolate industrial fluid process pipelines, subject to fluid compatibility and operating requirements.

Selection points

Three-piece Body Design

The M10P features a three-piece body design.

Carbon Steel and Stainless Steel Body Options

The M10P2 has an ASTM A105 zinc-plated carbon steel body, while the M10P3 has an ASTM A182 F316L stainless steel body.

Multiple Pipe Connection Types

The M10P supports BSP, BSPT, API/NPT, SW socket-weld, and BW butt-weld connections.

Installation & maintenance notes

Use Only for Isolation

The M10P is an isolation valve and must not be used for flow regulation or throttling control. It must be either fully open or fully closed during operation.

Verify Saturated Steam Operating Pressure

For saturated steam isolation service, verify before commissioning and operation that the working pressure does not exceed 17.5 barg.

FAQ

Is the M10P ball valve suitable for flow regulation?

No. The M10P is a three-piece ball valve designed solely for isolation and must not be used as a control valve.

What media and operating conditions is the M10P ball valve suitable for?

The M10P is designed for steam and other industrial fluids, with an operating range extending from vacuum service to higher temperatures and pressures. The specific configuration must be confirmed based on the actual model and application conditions.

Must the valve be removed from the pipeline for maintenance?

No. The M10P ball valve can be serviced and maintained without being removed from the pipeline.

Which sizes and connection types are available for the M10P?

The size range is 1/4"-2", with the 2 1/2" size available in reduced bore only. Connection types include BSP, BSPT, API/NPT, SW, and BW, with both full-bore and reduced-bore versions available.

Which limitations require particular attention when selecting and installing the M10P?

Confirm that the pressure, temperature, and operating range meet the application requirements. The maximum allowable pressure is 140 bar@32°C, the maximum allowable temperature is 260°C@0 barg, and the minimum allowable temperature is -29°C. Operation at lower temperatures requires further confirmation.
