The Spirax Sarco M10S is a three-piece ball valve designed for the isolation of steam and industrial fluids. It features a carbon steel or stainless steel body and carbon/graphite-reinforced PTFE seats, with a maximum allowable pressure of 100 bar g and a maximum saturated steam working pressure of 17.5 bar g. It meets the ISO 5208 Rate A zero-leakage standard and the antistatic requirements of ISO 7121. Threaded, welded, and flanged connection options are available for shut-off and isolation control in medium- and high-pressure steam systems and industrial process fluid applications.

Selection points
In-line maintenance for threaded and welded versions
The M10S features a three-piece construction. Threaded and welded versions can be serviced in line without removing the valve from the pipeline.
Saturated steam working pressure limit
The M10S is suitable for steam isolation service and has a maximum saturated steam working pressure of 17.5 bar g.
Class A leakage rating
The M10S leakage rate complies with ISO 5208 Class A and EN 12266-1 Class A requirements.
Carbon/graphite-reinforced PTFE seats
The M10S2, M10S3, and M10S4 are all fitted with PDR 0.8 carbon/graphite-reinforced PTFE seats.
Full-bore and reduced-bore options
The M10S is available in FB full-bore and RB reduced-bore versions. The full-bore size range is 1/4"-2", and the reduced-bore size range is 1/4"-2-1/2".
Standardized antistatic design
The M10S uses an antistatic reinforced PTFE stem seal, and its antistatic design complies with ISO 7121 and BS 5351.
Installation & maintenance notes
For fully open or fully closed isolation only
The M10S is an isolation ball valve and must be used in the fully open or fully closed position. It must not be operated at an intermediate position for throttling or flow regulation.
FAQ
Can the Spirax Sarco M10S be used to regulate steam flow?
The M10S is intended for shut-off and isolation of steam and other industrial fluids and cannot be used as a control valve. Its leakage rate is tested to ISO 5208 Class A and EN 12266-1 Class A. It should be selected as an isolation valve, not as a flow control valve.
Does the PN100 design rating of the M10S mean that it can be used with saturated steam at 100 bar g?
No. PN100 is the body design rating. The maximum allowable pressure is 100 bar g at 60°C, while the maximum working pressure for saturated steam is 17.5 bar g. The maximum working temperature of 260°C applies at 0 bar g; the maximum pressure and maximum temperature cannot be used together. The flange standard may also limit the maximum working pressure, so the pressure and temperature limits for the relevant connection type must be checked during valve selection.
What are the material differences between the M10S2, M10S3, and M10S4?
The M10S2 body and end caps are made of zinc-plated ASTM A 105 carbon steel. The M10S3 and M10S4 body and end caps are made of ASTM A 182 F316L stainless steel. The M10S3 separator, linkage, and some fasteners remain zinc-plated carbon steel, while the corresponding M10S4 components are stainless steel. All three models use an AISI 316 stainless steel ball and stem, together with PDR 0.8 carbon/graphite-reinforced PTFE seats.
Must the complete M10S valve be removed from the pipeline for maintenance?
Threaded and welded M10S versions can be serviced in line without removing the complete valve from the pipeline. This maintenance feature applies only to threaded and welded versions, not to flanged versions.
What full-bore, reduced-bore, and pipeline connection options are available for the M10S?
FB in the model designation indicates full bore, while RB indicates reduced bore. Threaded and welded versions have a full-bore size range of 1/4"-2" and a reduced-bore size range of 1/4"-2-1/2". Connections include BSP, BSPT, and API/NPT threads, as well as BW butt-weld and SW socket-weld connections. Flanged versions have a full-bore range of DN15-DN50 and a reduced-bore range of DN15-DN65. Flange standards include ASME (ANSI) Class 150, Class 300, and EN 1092 PN40.
