Application scenarios

Steam and condensate pipeline isolation

This valve can be used as an on/off isolation valve in steam and condensate pipelines. The product documentation specifies its suitability for industrial fluids such as steam and condensate. It features a full-bore design and has a maximum saturated steam pressure of 17.5 bar g.

Oil, gas, and general industrial gas pipeline isolation

This valve can be used to isolate pipelines carrying oil, gas, and other industrial fluids within its allowable temperature and pressure ranges. The product documentation specifies its suitability for oil and gas service, together with an API 607 fire-safe design and an antistatic design.

Remote isolation of automated process pipelines

This valve can be used for industrial pipeline isolation where an actuator is required for remote opening and closing. The product documentation specifies an actuator mounting interface conforming to ISO 5211 and provides maximum operating torque values for each valve size.

Selection points

API 607 fire-safe secondary seal

Under normal operating conditions, sealing is provided by two PDR 0.8 seats. If the seats are completely damaged by excessive temperature, the ball contacts the metal seat in the end cap to form a metal-to-metal secondary seal in compliance with the API 607 fire safety standard.

ISO 5211 actuator mounting interface

The valve is equipped with an actuator mounting interface conforming to ISO 5211 for connection to a compatible actuator.

Full-bore design with specified flow coefficients

The valve features a two-piece, full-bore floating-ball design. Kv flow coefficients range from 300 for DN50 to 4800 for DN200, providing a basis for comparing flow capacity and pressure drop across different valve sizes.

Maximum saturated steam pressure of 17.5 bar g

The maximum saturated steam pressure is 17.5 bar g. Suitability for steam service should be assessed against this pressure limit during valve selection.

Installation & maintenance notes

Ensure correct pipeline alignment during installation

During installation, ensure that the upstream and downstream piping is correctly aligned with the valve. This prevents piping loads from being transferred to the valve body, which could impede valve operation or cause damage.

Isolate, depressurize, and cool before disassembly or maintenance

Before disassembly or seal replacement, isolate the valve from both the upstream and downstream sides, safely release any residual pressure from the system and valve body, and allow the valve to cool to ambient temperature before performing maintenance.

FAQ

How does the M33F ISO full-bore fire-safe ball valve operate?

Under normal operating conditions, the ball valve provides full-bore shutoff by rotating the ball, with sealing provided by the PDR 0.8 seats. When the temperature exceeds the seats' tolerance, the seats deform and are extruded, allowing the ball to contact the metal seat and form a metal-to-metal seal, ensuring that the fire-safe design complies with API 607.

How should the M33F size and material configuration be selected to meet API 6D/API 607 requirements?

Available models include M33F2 ISO, with a zinc-plated carbon steel WCB body, and M33F3 ISO, with a stainless steel CF8M body. Sizes range from DN50 to DN200, and an ISO 5211 mounting interface is provided. A hollow ball is available for DN150 and DN200, and compatibility with API 6D must be considered.

Which operating conditions are covered by this ball valve's fire-safe design?

The valve is designed for isolation service and is suitable for steam, condensate, water, oil, gas, and other fluids within its specified operating range. Its fire-safe design complies with API 607, and the ball contacts the metal seat to form a metal-to-metal seal under extreme-temperature conditions.

Which installation and actuation requirements should be considered during selection?

The product has an ISO mounting arrangement conforming to ISO 5211. Mechanical or pneumatic actuators from the BAV300 series are available for all sizes. Optional configurations include a lockable handle, drain port, pressure relief valve, and NACE MR 0175-compliant materials.

What should users consider regarding certificates and compliance when ordering?

The product complies with the European Pressure Equipment Directive 97/23/EC and may bear the CE marking. EN 10204 3.1 certification is available and must be specified when ordering. Specific certificates and regional restrictions should be confirmed against the actual order information.
