Application scenarios

Condensate drainage in steam systems

Used to drain condensate from steam systems. UIB30 and UIB30H are sealed inverted bucket steam traps that can be connected via pipe connectors using threaded, socket-weld, or flanged connections. They support horizontal or vertical installation, with the body suspended downward and the cover at the top.

Condensate drainage from high-capacity steam-heating equipment

For steam-heating equipment with high condensate drainage loads, the high-capacity UIB30H can be selected to discharge condensate generated during steam heating. The specific model should be selected according to the actual maximum differential pressure and operating conditions.

Selection points

Sealed inverted bucket design

The product is identified as a sealed inverted bucket steam trap, suitable for steam trap points that require a sealed inverted bucket design.

Multiple connection options via pipe connectors

The product can be fitted with threaded, socket-weld, or flanged connections through pipe connectors, allowing selection based on the site piping interface.

Maximum differential pressure available by model

The maximum differential pressure can be selected by model as 1.5 bar, 2.0 bar, 2.5 bar, 4.0 bar, 5.0 bar, 8.5 bar, 12.0 bar, 20.0 bar, or 30.0 bar. The maximum operating pressure is 30 bar g saturated steam pressure.

Stainless steel body and internal components

The body is made of ASTM A351 CF8 stainless steel, the cover is made of ASTM A240 Gr.304 stainless steel, and the seat and valve disc are made of AISI 440B stainless steel.

Installation & maintenance notes

Installation orientation and connector mounting face

UIB30/UIB30H can be installed horizontally or vertically, but the correct installation orientation must be maintained so that the inverted bucket can move freely in the vertical plane. The mounting face of the pipe connector must remain vertical. An inclined installation or incorrect mounting face orientation can obstruct movement of the inverted bucket, resulting in poor condensate drainage, water accumulation, water hammer, or steam leakage.

Isolation and pressure release before maintenance

Before servicing or replacing the steam trap, isolate both the upstream and downstream piping on either side of the connector and release any residual pressure. Removing the trap without isolating residual pressure or high-temperature media may cause high-temperature steam or condensate to discharge, resulting in scalding injuries.

Connector bolt and gasket assembly

When installing or replacing the connector, use a suitable gasket and ensure that the gasket is in good condition. Tighten the connecting bolts gradually and evenly or in an alternating sequence. Improper tightening or gasket problems may cause leakage at the connection or seal failure.

FAQ

How do UIB30 and UIB30H operate, and can they be installed horizontally or vertically?

UIB30 and UIB30H are sealed inverted bucket steam traps that can be installed horizontally or vertically, with the body suspended downward and the cover at the top.

When selecting a model, how does the capacity difference between UIB30 and UIB30H affect the system?

UIB30H is the high-capacity model. The capacity difference depends on the selected differential pressure and connector combination. Refer to the applicable size and differential pressure tables to identify the most suitable differential pressure.

Can in-line removal of the steam trap with a pipe connector significantly reduce system downtime?

Yes. With a suitable pipe connector, the UIB can be removed in line without disturbing the pipework, significantly reducing system downtime.

What standards and certificates are available for this valve?

The product complies with the European Pressure Equipment Directive 97/23/EC, and EN 10204 3.1 certificates are available. Specify the certificate requirement when placing the order.

What connection options are available for different sizes, and how should the size and connector be selected?

The UIB can be used with various pipe connectors, including straight connectors and connectors with strainers. The size and connection type are determined by the selected connector model. Refer to the applicable technical documentation for details.
