Application scenarios

Process Media Mixing or Blending

For mixing or blending media in pipelines. Three-way or four-way flow paths with L, T, or LL port configurations enable multidirectional flow switching and shutoff within a single valve.

Multi-Branch Media Diversion and Shutoff

For diverting pipeline media to different locations and shutting off media entering from different directions. The MPF series provides three-way and four-way multidirectional flow control, integrating flow diversion and shutoff functions.

Bypass for Filters, Meters, or Heat Exchangers

For switching media between pipeline routes that pass through filters, meters, or heat exchangers and bypass routes that avoid the associated equipment. This series integrates multidirectional control and shutoff functions in a single valve.

Storage Tank Inlet and Outlet Flow Path Switching

For directing media into or out of storage tanks and switching or shutting off the associated flow paths. The multiport design enables tank-related flow diversion and shutoff functions within a single valve.

Multidirectional Switching and Shutoff in Vacuum Process Piping

For process piping in 29-inch-of-mercury vacuum applications, enabling media direction, diversion, or shutoff through three-way or four-way flow path configurations.

Selection points

Three-Way and Four-Way Multi-Flow Path Integration

Available in full three-way and four-way configurations with L, T, and LL port options, enabling media mixing, diverting, bypassing, and multi-directional shutoff in a single valve.

Compact Standard-Port and Block-Style Full-Port Valve Bodies

Available in compact standard-port and block-style full-port body designs, allowing selection based on installation space and flow requirements.

Multiple End Connections and Mixed Connection Capability

Available with NPT threaded, quick-clamp, socket-weld, butt-weld, and flanged end connection options, with support for mixed end connections on the same valve.

Blowout-Proof Stem and Factory Gas Seal Testing

Features a blowout-proof stem design compliant with ASME B16.34. The stem and seats undergo gas closure testing before shipment to ensure bubble-tight sealing integrity.

Installation & maintenance notes

Verify Flow Path Configuration Matches Piping Function

Before installation, confirm that the selected valve is a three-way or four-way configuration based on the piping mixing, diverting, bypass, or shutoff function, and that the L, T, or LL flow path configuration meets the design connectivity requirements.

Verify Pressure and Temperature Are Within Allowable Operating Conditions

During installation and operation, confirm that the media pressure and temperature do not exceed the allowable limits for the applicable pressure class, body material, and temperature range. The MPF series operating temperature range is -25°F to 500°F. The maximum allowable operating pressure for ASME 150 and ASME 300 varies by stainless steel or WCB valve body.

Verify End Connections Match Site Piping

During installation, confirm that the valve end connection configuration matches and is properly connected to the site piping interfaces. The MPF series is available with NPT threaded, quick-clamp, socket-weld, butt-weld, and flanged end connections; available connection options vary by valve body type.

FAQ

How do MPF multi-port ball valves work?

The MPF Series uses multi-port ball valves with ISO 5211 mounting interfaces to provide 3-way or 4-way flow control through a single valve body. Ball rotation opens or closes individual flow paths for mixing, diverting, and flow-direction switching, enabling multi-directional control and shutoff with one valve.

What end connection types are available for the MPF Series, and how should they be selected?

Standard-port valves are available with NPT threaded and quick-clamp end connections. Full-port valves are available with NPT threaded, quick-clamp, socket weld or butt weld, and flanged end connections. End connections may be mixed on the same valve. Selection should be based on the process medium, installation space, and connection method.

What are the material and operating temperature characteristics of the MPF Series?

Valve bodies are available in stainless steel or carbon steel, with 316 stainless steel stems. The temperature range is -25°F to 500°F, making these valves suitable for industrial fluid media across a broad temperature range.

How can the pressure rating and sealing performance of the MPF Series be evaluated during selection?

The MPF Series is designed in accordance with ASME B16.34. Sealing components undergo gas closure testing before shipment, with a zero-leakage rating. Matching ASME end connections and pressure classes, such as ASME 150/300, are available. The specific configuration should be confirmed based on operating pressure, temperature, and medium characteristics.

What applications and installation positions are suitable for the MPF Series?

The valves can be used for pipeline media mixing, blending, diverting, bypassing filters/meters/heat exchangers, and direct flow into or out of tanks. They are suitable for applications requiring multi-directional switching and shutoff within a single valve. Specific applications should be determined based on the actual piping layout and medium characteristics.
