The Rite® Series SA16 check valve accessory increases opening pressure by adding an external counterweight and regulates the closing force of the disc during opening and closing cycles. This valve is suitable for applications requiring field-adjustable closing characteristics.
The SA16 model is a modified version of the standard Rite® Series single-door swing check valve, featuring a hexagonal drive connection between the disc, hinge, and shaft. The shaft extends through the structure, supported at one end by the body and at the other by a body bushing and an anti-friction ball bearing mounted on an opposing bracket. O-rings seal the shaft, seal bushing, and body to prevent leakage. The counterweight is supported by a lever mounted on the shaft via a hexagonal connection. The opening pressure of the disc can be finely adjusted by changing the position of the counterweight on the lever arm.
Applications:
Configuring the standard Rite® Series single-door wafer or flanged swing check valve with an external counterweight and lever allows users to adjust the opening pressure within a certain range and/or alter the closing characteristics of the valve. The counterweight generates the torque required to close the valve.
