Features and Benefits

A Enclosure

Compact weatherproof VSM is NEMA Type 4, 4x and IP66/67/68. One-piece polycarbonate cover and resin base provide excellent corrosion, abrasion, impact, and UV resistance.

B High-Visibility Position Indicator

Impact-resistant dome indicator provides visual open and close indication. To reverse the open and close visual output, simply rotate the internal baffle 90 degrees.

C Captive Cover Bolts

The cover is secured to the base with stainless steel captive bolts located outside the sealing area.

D O-Ring Seal Provides Weather Protection

An O-ring seal between cover and base provides weather-tight sealing to prevent internal corrosion.

E Cam Sensor

Spline cam design allows easy, accurate switch trigger position setting without tools.

F Limit Switches

Two switches standard. Optional switch types available to meet connection requirements.

G Terminals

Clearly marked terminal block is angled toward the user for easy installation.

H Conduit Entry

Conduit entry available in imperial or metric threading.

I Grounding

Green-coded, easy-to-operate grounding bolt.

FAQ

Is the Bray Series 5A resin switch box suitable for corrosive or outdoor environments?

Yes. The Series 5A features a glass fiber reinforced PBT base and polycarbonate cover indicator dome, providing corrosion, wear, impact, and UV resistance. The product is rated IP66/67/68 and NEMA 4/4x, with an O-ring seal between cover and base to help prevent moisture ingress and reduce internal corrosion risk.

How can the 5A switch box provide on-site visual confirmation of valve open/close position?

The Series 5A displays valve status through a high-visibility, impact-resistant dome position indicator. Standard beacon colors are Red/Yellow, with Red/Green, Black/Yellow, or Red/Green inverted options also available. To reverse the open/close visual output, rotate the internal baffle 90 degrees.

What limit switch signal types are available for the Bray Series 5A?

This series comes standard with two limit switches, available in mechanical SPDT, low-power SPDT, as well as proximity PNP, NPN, 140V 2-wire, 250V 2-wire, reed, and NAMUR intrinsically safe switch types. Specific switch type should be confirmed based on control system interface, electrical requirements, and application conditions.

Can the 5A switch box be mounted on NAMUR-compliant actuators?

Yes. The Series 5A is compatible with VDI/VDE 3845 mounting standards (NAMUR interface) and can be used with corresponding valve actuators. Actuator mounting dimensions and compatibility conditions should be verified before installation.

How are switch trigger positions adjusted on the Bray 5A switch box, and is maintenance convenient?

The Series 5A uses a spline cam design allowing tool-free switch trigger position setting for accurate adjustment. The terminal block is clearly marked and angled toward the user for easy wiring. The cover is secured with stainless steel captive bolts located outside the sealing area, facilitating field maintenance.
