Product Overview
Designed with hazardous location ratings and self-locking worm gear for reliable valve control
Compact actuator base integrates motor, gear drive and heater - no customer maintenance required
Power Center
Bray designed the 70 Hazardous series with the control center completely separate from the power center. The power center is located in the actuator base and consists of the motor, gear set, capacitor, output drive, and heater. Each component is designed to be maintenance-free for the customer, thus this design protects the power drive system. The power center components are uniquely configured to maintain the extremely low profile of the 70 series.
Self-Locking Output Drive Assembly
The output drive assembly features a self-locking worm and worm gear drive that holds the valve in the desired position without requiring an electric/mechanical braking system. The worm shaft directly drives the worm gear.
Mechanical Travel Stops
Stainless steel mechanical travel stops are field-adjustable to prevent over-travel when using the manual override. The travel stops are located outside the base and are easy to adjust without removing the cover. Stainless steel lock nuts with O-ring stem packing securely hold the travel stops in place. Travel stops are typically set at the factory, allowing travel between 0° and 90°.
Manual Override Handwheel Assembly
Pull to engage manual operation.
Rotate the handwheel to position the valve.
Push to return to electric operation.
The Bray manual override system ensures accurate and rapid manual operation without requiring additional tools or levers. An automatic power disconnect switch cuts motor power when the handwheel is in use. A ball detent holds the manual override shaft in position when in use. When the handwheel is pushed in to disengage the override, the ball detent also holds the shaft in position. Drive pins engage and disengage from the worm and segmented worm gear output shaft with the manual override shaft. When pushing or pulling the handwheel, the drive pins engage smoothly with the worm shaft.
