Product Overview

Engineered for high precision, safety, and performance in high-temperature industrial environments.

Designed for Extreme Temperature Use

Bray’s Series 92 direct drive and Series 93 spring return pneumatic actuators incorporate design elements of form, strength, compactness, and simplicity. Superior design and precision manufacturing produce a modular product line that reduces overall size requirements and saves costs. Additionally, all Bray accessories are fully modular and mount directly to the actuator, reducing costs while providing flexibility and efficiency. Bray Series 92/93 actuators are rack and pinion opposed piston actuators available in two versions: double-acting with rotations of 90°, 135°, and 180°, and spring return with 90° rotation. Series 92/93 actuators are primarily designed for pneumatic operation with maximum pressure up to 140 psig (10 bar) and temperature range of -4°F to 200°F (-20°C to 93°C). Consult the factory for higher and lower temperature applications. All double-acting and spring return units are suitable for on/off and modulating applications. As an option, actuators driven by other media such as hydraulic oil or water are also available. The Series 92/93 is completely self-enclosed and self-contained. Its various features reduce maintenance and make disassembly and installation safer and easier. Two independent adjustable travel stop screws and cams on the output shaft provide precise bidirectional adjustment of 90° rotary valve movement in open and closed positions (+5° to -5° limit adjustment) Integral porting Standard units feature an anodized aluminum body with polyester-coated end caps Special coatings and materials for corrosive environments NAMUR accessory compatibility Direct mounting Bray actuators conform to ISO 5211 mounting dimensions and mount directly to Bray valves without requiring external couplings. Field installation is simple, minimizing misalignment and reducing contaminant accumulation between the valve and actuator.

FAQ

What high-temperature valve automation applications are the 92/93-XT pneumatic actuators suitable for?

The 92/93-XT series is designed for high-temperature industrial environments, suitable for automated operation of butterfly and ball valves supporting on/off and modulating control. The actuators use a rack and pinion opposed piston design available in double-acting and spring-return configurations.

How do I choose between the 92 or 93-XT series for high-temperature applications?

The 92 series is a direct-drive double-acting actuator offering 90°, 135°, and 180° rotation; the 93 series is a spring-return actuator providing 90° rotation. Selection should consider the required valve rotation angle, fail-safe position requirements, output torque, and actual application conditions.

What are the operating pressure, temperature, and output torque ranges for the 92/93-XT series?

The maximum allowable operating pressure is up to 140 psig (10 bar), output torque up to 44,130 in-lb (4,986 Nm). High-temperature performance covers 0°F to 350°F (-18°C to 176°C), with capability at 482°F (250°C) for 4 hours. Specific configuration depends on the actual model and application conditions.

Can the 92/93-XT series be mounted directly to valves without additional couplings?

Yes. The series complies with ISO 5211:2001(E) mounting dimensions and mounts directly to Bray valves without external couplings. Direct mounting simplifies field assembly, minimizes misalignment, and reduces contaminant accumulation between the valve and actuator.

How are travel adjustment and routine maintenance performed on this actuator?

The actuator features two independently adjustable travel stop screws and an output shaft cam for bidirectional precise adjustment of valve open and close positions. For 90° rotary valves, limit adjustment range is +5° to -5°. The fully enclosed, self-contained design reduces maintenance needs and makes disassembly and installation safer and simpler.
