FAQ

How does BPT13 balanced pressure steam trap automatically discharge condensate?

BPT13 uses a stainless steel capsule as the thermal sensing element. On startup, the capsule is contracted, allowing air and cold condensate to discharge; when steam temperature rises, the internal medium in the capsule expands and pushes the valve disc closed, reducing live steam loss. As condensate temperature drops, the capsule contracts again and opens for drainage.

How to choose between STD, NTS and SUB capsules for BPT13?

Capsule type should be selected based on the required condensate discharge temperature. STD type discharges at 12°C below saturation; NTS type at 4°C below saturation; SUB type at 24°C below saturation. The capsule code must be specified when ordering and confirmed against actual steam pressure and application conditions.

What is the difference between BPT13A, BPT13S and models with union or strainer?

BPT13A has an angle connection design, BPT13S has a straight-through design, selected based on piping layout. BPT13AX and BPT13SX have integral strainers; BPT13UA and BPT13US have union inlet connections for ease of installation and maintenance. Specific configuration depends on actual model and application conditions.

What are the pressure, temperature and thread connection ranges for BPT13?

BPT13 body design condition PN16, maximum working pressure PMO 13 bar g, maximum working temperature TMO 225°C at 7 bar g. Available in 3/8\", 1/2\" and 3/4\" threaded connections, standard options BSP (BS 21) or NPT. Ensure actual operating conditions do not exceed the product operating range.

What are the key installation and maintenance requirements for BPT13?

Install with the capsule in horizontal position and cap facing upward; a cooling leg before the trap is recommended. BPT13 is a maintainable design with replaceable capsule and seat assembly, bonnet gasket, and strainer parts. When maintaining or ordering spares, specify the trap model, size, and capsule code.
