Overview

Smart Stem™ technology with live-loaded packing for enhanced reliability and extended service life

Soft Seat Design Ensures Bidirectional Bubble-Tight Shutoff

The RF15/RF30 Series are 1-piece investment cast ASME B16.34 Class 150 & Class 300 standard-port flanged floating ball valves. RF15/RF30 valves offer a variety of optional trims and configurations, including V-ball control valve trims, and are widely used across global industries. RF15/RF30 one-piece ball valves deliver exceptional value and reliable operation across a wide range of service conditions with a rugged flanged one-piece ball valve design. The RF15/RF30 Series flanged ball valve features a one-piece body design that reduces leak paths to ensure bubble-tight shutoff and low operating torque. Sizes ½” - 2” feature Bray’s Smart Stem™ technology for internally continuously pre-loaded packing. Sizes 2½” - 12” feature an independent packing gland that can be easily adjusted without removing mounting hardware or the actuator. The packing gland features a special profile designed to distribute load evenly across the packing. Continuously pre-loaded packing incorporates Belleville springs for self-adjusting compression, compensating for environmental changes and wear, ensuring maintenance-free operation and extended service life. Larger RF15/RF30 one-piece ball valves feature bearing-supported ball construction to reduce operating torque. Soft-seated RF15/RF30 flanged ball valves feature positive pre-load design for low-pressure/vacuum sealing capability. All soft seat materials ensure bidirectional bubble-tight shutoff. RF15/RF30 Series valves feature an integrally cast ISO 5211 mounting pad for easy automation. * * Not available on all sizes. Refer to product manual for details.

FAQ

What is the difference in pressure class and selection between the RF15 and RF30 Series?

The RF15 is suitable for ASME Class 150, while the RF30 is suitable for ASME Class 300. Selection should consider pipeline pressure class, flange standards, media temperature, and seat material requirements; both are one-piece flanged floating ball valves conforming to ASME B16.34.

How do the RF15/RF30 achieve low-pressure, vacuum, and bidirectional sealing?

This series features a positive pre-load resilient seat design that maintains sealing under low-pressure or vacuum conditions; the seat materials provide bidirectional bubble-tight shutoff, achieving ASME Class VI zero-leakage seal class. Actual seat material should be confirmed based on media, temperature, and service conditions.

What are the packing structure differences across sizes, and what maintenance considerations apply?

Sizes ½ to 2 inches feature Smart Stem™ technology with continuously pre-loaded, self-adjusting packing via Belleville washers that compensates for environmental changes and packing wear. Sizes 2½ to 12 inches feature an independent packing gland that can be adjusted without removing mounting hardware or the actuator. The packing gland cover distributes packing load evenly, helping extend service life.

What media temperatures and industry applications are suitable for the RF15/RF30?

This series has a temperature range of -46°C to 343°C. Body options include CF8M stainless steel, WCB carbon steel, or special alloys; seat options include TFM 1600, Tek-Fil®, PEEK, UHMWPE, RPTFE, or metal. Suitable for process, tank farm, fuel, oil and gas applications; specific configuration depends on actual media and conditions.

Can the RF15/RF30 be used for automated control, and is a V-ball trim available?

The RF15/RF30 Series offers a variety of trims and configurations, including V-ball control valve trim. The integrally cast ISO 5211 mounting pad facilitates automation, but not all sizes feature this mounting pad. For applications requiring throttling control or actuator mounting, the specific model and configuration should be confirmed based on actual conditions.
