FAQ

How do BPC32F and BPC32YF balanced pressure thermostatic steam traps discharge condensate?

This series operates through stainless steel capsules that sense temperature changes between condensate and steam. On startup, air and cold condensate are discharged through the valve; when condensate temperature approaches the set discharge temperature, the capsule expands and closes the valve seat, reducing steam loss. As condensate cools, the capsule contracts and the valve opens again for drainage. The standard STD capsule discharges condensate at approximately 12°C below saturated steam temperature.

How to choose between BPC32F and BPC32YF?

Both are carbon steel, integrally flanged, straight-through maintainable balanced pressure thermostatic steam traps. The main difference is in the integral strainer design. BPC32F has a flat stainless steel strainer; BPC32YF has a Y-type cylindrical high-capacity strainer with a bottom drain plug for inline flushing. For applications requiring larger dirt-holding capacity and convenient on-site flushing, BPC32YF may be considered. Specific configuration depends on actual piping conditions and application requirements.

When should BPC32FCV or BPC32YFCV with check valve be selected?

When there is risk of backflow or system siphoning at the trap outlet, BPC32FCV or BPC32YFCV with integral check valves should be selected. BPC32FCV has a flat strainer, BPC32YFCV has a Y-type high-capacity strainer; both have integral stainless steel check valves. The need for check valve function should be determined based on condensate recovery piping, pressure differential variations, and system operating conditions.

What discharge temperature options are available for the capsules, and how to select?

"Three capsule types are available: STD, NTS, and SUB. STD discharges at 12°C below saturated steam temperature; NTS at 6°C below saturation; SUB at 24°C below saturation. Different capsules correspond to different condensate discharge temperature requirements. The capsule type must be specified when ordering and confirmed against actual steam conditions."

What are the pressure, temperature, and flange connection ranges for BPC32F and BPC32YF?

This series is suitable for DN15, DN20 and DN25 sizes, available with EN 1092 PN40, ASME B16.5 Class 150 or Class 300 integral flange connections. Maximum allowable body pressure is 50 bar g at 50°C, maximum allowable temperature is 400°C at 35 bar g; maximum working pressure is 32 bar g, maximum working temperature is 287°C. Before installation, verify that the piping flange standards, actual working pressure and temperature match the product operating range.
