Application scenarios

Steam systems requiring steam trap condition monitoring

ISMC32 can be fitted with a WLS1 sensor to detect condensate backup and steam leakage, or with an SS1 sensor to detect steam leakage. It can also be connected to the existing Spiratec monitoring system, making it suitable for steam systems requiring diagnosis and monitoring of steam trap operating conditions.

Selection points

Serviceable bimetallic design

ISMC32 is a serviceable bimetallic steam trap for applications where future inspection and internal component maintenance are required.

Integrated leakage and condensate accumulation monitoring sensors

The product can be fitted with a WLS1 sensor for detecting condensate accumulation and steam leakage, or an SS1 sensor for detecting steam leakage.

PN40 carbon steel body and suitability for saturated steam pressures up to 32 bar g

The body is designed to PN40, with the body and cap made of C22.8 or ASTM A105N carbon steel. Maximum saturated steam pressure is 32 bar g.

Multiple connection standards and sizes from 1/2 to 1 inch

Available with 1/2 to 1 inch BSP or NPT threaded, socket weld, butt weld, and EN, ANSI, JIS, or KS standard flanged connections.

Corrosion-resistant bimetallic elements and stainless steel strainer

The product uses Rau Type H46 corrosion-resistant bimetallic elements and stainless steel materials, and is equipped with an AISI 304 stainless steel strainer.

Installation & maintenance notes

Install in the Specified Orientation

During installation, keep the bimetallic element horizontal with the cover facing upward.

Observe the Specified Operating Limits

Operating conditions must not exceed a maximum saturated steam pressure of 32 bar g and a maximum operating temperature of 240°C @32 bar g. The minimum operating temperature is 0°C; consult us for operation below 0°C.

FAQ

What type of trapping mechanism does ISMC32 use?

ISMC32 is a maintainable bimetallic steam trap with a carbon steel body and straight-through connection configuration, incorporating a Y-type strainer and Spiratec sensor.

What are the pressure and temperature ranges of ISMC32?

The body design condition is PN40, with a maximum allowable pressure of 50 bar g@50°C and a maximum allowable temperature of 400°C@35 bar g. The maximum saturated steam pressure is 32 bar g, and the maximum operating temperature is 240°C@32 bar g. The specific configuration must be confirmed according to the actual model and application conditions.

What connection types and sizes are available for ISMC32?

Available in 1/2 inch, 3/4 inch, and 1 inch sizes, with BSP or NPT threaded, BS 3799 socket-weld, EN 12627 butt-weld, and flanged connections. Flange options include EN 1092 PN40, ANSI B16.5 Class 150/300, JIS/KS 10K, and 20K.

How should ISMC32 be installed?

Install with the bimetallic element in a horizontal plane and the cover at the top. Where downstream back pressure is present, a check valve is recommended at the outlet. For direct discharge to atmosphere, suitable isolation valves are recommended upstream and downstream of the steam trap.

What maintenance spare parts are available for ISMC32?

Available spare parts include the bimetallic element assembly, Y-type strainer screen, cover gasket set, sensor and sensor gasket, and connector gasket. Do not dismantle the locking nut, as this may alter the steam trap setting.
