Overview

ASME Class 150/300 valves with Stellite® seats for durability in high-temperature operation

Durable Full Port Flanged Ball Valve with Exceptional Corrosion Resistance

The F15/F30 Series flanged floating ball valves are investment cast, ASME B16.34 Class 150 and Class 300 full-port ball valves. They offer a variety of optional trims and configurations, including soft-seated, metal-seated, and V-ball control valve trims, and are widely used across global industries. The F15/F30 Series ball valves deliver exceptional value and reliable operation in a rugged flanged ball valve design suitable for a wide range of service conditions. The F15/F30 Series flanged ball valve design ensures bubble-tight shutoff and low operating torque. Sizes ½” - 2” feature Bray’s Smart Stem™ technology for internally continuously pre-loaded packing. Sizes 2½” - 12” feature an independent packing gland that can be easily adjusted without removing mounting hardware or the actuator. The packing gland features a special profile designed to distribute load evenly across the packing. The dynamic load packing is self-adjusting via Belleville springs, compensating for environmental changes and wear, ensuring maintenance-free operation and extended service life. Larger F15/F30 flanged ball valves feature bearing-supported ball construction to reduce operating torque. The metal-seated F15/F30 flanged ball valves feature Stellite® cobalt-chromium alloy seat overlay, providing excellent corrosion resistance, higher operating temperatures, and superior wear resistance with high hardness. Metal-seated F15/F30 flanged ball valves feature butt-seal shutoff meeting or exceeding CI 70-2 Class V, with optional Class VI shutoff available. F15/F30 Series flanged ball valves are available in stainless steel (CF8M), carbon steel (WCB), and special alloys (such as Alloy 20, Hastelloy, etc.), with other dissimilar alloys available on request. Non-fire-safe versions feature standard stem packing. API 607 fire-safe trims feature graphite stem packing. F15/F30 Series valves feature an integrally cast ISO 5211 mounting pad for easy automation. * * Not available on all sizes. Refer to product manual for details.

FAQ

What is the difference in pressure class selection between the F15 and F30 metal-seated flanged ball valves?

The F15 Series is suitable for ASME Class 150, while the F30 Series is suitable for ASME Class 300. Selection should consider pipeline design pressure, temperature, flange class, and system specifications, rather than relying solely on ambient temperature pressure ratings.

What high-temperature or abrasive service conditions are suitable for the F15/F30 Series metal-seated valves?

This series features metal seats with Stellite® 6 cobalt-chromium alloy overlay, offering high hardness, wear resistance, and corrosion resistance, with a maximum operating temperature of 750°F (399°C). For high-temperature, seat-wearing, or high-durability applications, the metal seat configuration is an appropriate choice; specific configuration depends on the actual model and application conditions.

What shutoff seal class can the F15/F30 metal-seated ball valve achieve?

The metal-seated version features butt-seal shutoff meeting or exceeding ANSI/FCI 70-2 Class V, with optional Class VI shutoff available. Actual achievable seal class should be confirmed based on valve configuration, media conditions, and application requirements.

How does this series reduce operating torque and support automation?

The F15/F30 features a full-port floating ball design focused on low operating torque and reliable sealing. Larger sizes feature bearing-supported ball construction to further reduce operating torque; the valve features an integrally cast ISO 5211 mounting pad for easy actuator automation. Not all sizes share the same configuration — confirm by specific model.

What are the characteristics of the packing maintenance approach for the F15/F30 ball valves?

Sizes ½ to 2 inches feature Smart Stem™ technology with internally continuously pre-loaded packing; sizes 2½ to 12 inches feature an independent packing gland that can be adjusted without removing mounting hardware or the actuator. Dynamic load packing with Belleville washers compensates for environmental changes and wear, helping maintain long-term sealing performance.
