Features and Benefits

A Enclosure Protection

Low-profile weather-resistant actuator certified to UL Type 4, 4x and IP65. Die-cast aluminum cover and base with polyester powder coating provide excellent corrosion, wear, impact, and UV resistance.

B High-Visibility Position Indicator

Prominent markings and color coding - yellow for open, red for closed - indicate valve position throughout the stroke. The O-ring sealed dome is made of transparent polycarbonate with high impact, heat, chemical, and UV resistance, capable of withstanding corrosive chemical washdown, ensuring excellent corrosion resistance.

C Captured Cover Bolts

The cover is secured to the base with stainless steel captured bolts located outside the sealing area.

D O-Ring Seal Provides Weather Protection

An O-ring seal between the cover and base provides weather-tight sealing to prevent internal corrosion.

E Manual Override

Standard on all models. A clutched manual override prevents handwheel movement when the motor is running. When manual operation is needed, pull the handwheel out to reveal a yellow stripe around the handwheel shaft. This indicates the handwheel is engaged and ready for manual operation.

F Manual Override Switch

Disconnect motor power when operating the handwheel. The manual override operates like a watch crown. To engage the manual override, simply pull the handwheel to its outermost position. The yellow stripe provides visual indication of manual override engagement.

G Conduit Entry

Both fittings have NPT or metric threads. One entry is for power supply, the other for control wiring.

H Motor Gear

High-torque starting motor assembly. Allows for quick inspection and maintenance.

I Output Drive

Self-locking worm shaft and worm gear assembly holds the valve in the desired position.

J Mechanical Travel Stop Bolts

Prevent over-travel in the open or close direction during manual operation. Travel stop bolts include lock nuts to prevent loosening, stem packing to prevent water ingress, and shims to allow adjustment between 0° and 90° limit switch settings. Travel stop bolts allow 5° of over-travel.

K Terminal Board

Actuator limit switches are pre-wired to an easily accessible and clearly marked terminal board for convenient customer wiring. The terminal board is located near the two conduit entries with ample space for routing wire leads. An easily accessible green plated ground screw is provided. A wiring diagram is included inside the cover for easy reference.

L Limit Switch Bracket

A simple, secure design firmly holds the limit switch assembly for accurate and repeatable valve position feedback.

M Limit Switch Cams

Bray’s patented cam design includes standard green (open) and red (close) cams adjustable by finger or screwdriver without additional tools. Standard factory setting allows 90° rotation between open and close positions.

N Roller Bearings

Low friction and ensure alignment of the actuator indicator shaft with the cams, providing reliable valve position feedback.

O Oldham Coupler

Corrects any misalignment between the valve and actuator without applying side load to the position indicator shaft assembly.

P Plug-in Relay Board (IRB)

The IRB is included on 120/220 VAC 50/60Hz on/off control versions and prevents control feedback from one actuator to another parallel actuator.

Built-in EtherNet/IP Support

The Bray Series 70 NXT is the first device with built-in EtherNet/IP connectivity, allowing direct connection to Rockwell PLCs via Ethernet.

Rockwell Studio 5000 Add-on Profile

Bray is the first manufacturer to offer a Rockwell Add-on Profile (AOP) for EtherNet/IP-enabled actuators. This AOP enables customers to seamlessly register and rapidly configure Bray S70 actuators into Rockwell PLCs via Studio5000 software. Customers automatically see I/O data with meaningful and descriptive names.

Fast Ethernet Connection

The Servo NXT control module uses assembly data to set valve position and transmit data directly to Rockwell/Allen-Bradley PLCs via EtherNet/IP protocol for visualization and fault notification to report operating characteristics. Another advantage is that device configuration data is stored in the Logix controller, enabling automatic device configuration upon device replacement.

Diagnostics and Reporting

The Series 70 Servo NXT EtherNet/IP™ control module provides feedback and diagnostic data via TCP/IP, including position, status, alarms, stroke count, motor run time, motor current, stroke time, direction changes, etc., providing enhanced diagnostic capability and predictive maintenance through degradation detection.
